Hey Todd,

My brother lived in Anchorage for a while. He liked it. I spent the month of January, 1976 in Alaska playing winter wargames with the Big Green Machine. I was up at Ft. Wainwright, outside of Fairbanks, but subzero winter weather or no, I had a blast. I'd like to go back someday.

Try here for starters: Travel Alaska

Here's kind of the community section of the Anchorage Daily News online. Some music scene stuff is listed here.

Best,

Hi Todd,
I lived in Anchorage for about 10 years. Both of my children were born there. A lot has changed since I left so I can't be of any help to you as far as guitar events. Check with the local Music shops.

The 10 years I lived there were the best years of my life!
I hope you have a wonderful time.

Are you in the Oil business?

Take care,
Walter

HI Todd,
Back in 1980 I believe an aircraft which made several flights to remote villages was making a landing in Anchorage. That was Wein Air Alaska. The weather conditions were terible. Poor visability too!
A few passengers and some cargo.
His landing gear was not functioning. It made local news and everyone in town was really concerned and praying.
Well to make a long story short, this pilot made one of the mosy spectacular landings in the history of Alaska aviation.
He was declared a Hero. No one was hurt and aircraft damage was minimal considering everything.

I will never forget that landing..it was on TV too!
Wein Air Alaska had one of the best safety records in the US. Those were great days.

Thanks for reading my story!!!

Walter
